1. About Campus

 

When the universities in Turkey are considered, deservedly, the only structure recalled would be the main entrance of the noble Istanbul University well known as Beyazıt Gate. Beyazıt Gate is in the middle of Beyazıt Square, situated on one of the seven hills of the city, looking over both Marmara Sea and Golden Horn right from the top, and has been hosting the University, faculty and students for years. There are two structres, “Entrace Guarding Gates” on both sides of the main gate, which have been used with this purpose for a certain time. Today, one of these guarding gates serves as “Professors’ House”, a social facility of the University.

 

After the entrance to the campus through the giant gate, the visitors encounter a rare view: The path between the Beyazıt Gate and the Central Building covered by old trees, and with all its magnificence the Central Building and Ataturk sculpture, made in 1955, located at the end of the path.  

 

 

Istanbul Law School is located in the Central Campus of the Istanbul University in Beyazıt with all its administrative and academic units. The administrative and academic units of the Law School operate in the two blocks and the “Central Building”, which was built and used as Armed Forces General Staff in the last period of the Ottoman Empire. The Central Building has three floors, and the two blocks were added to the structure of the Central Building like two arms of the "U" letter. The construction of these two blocks was completed in 1950s. The Faculty Dean’s Office, faculty secretariat, administrative and accounting offices are currently located at the second floor of the Central Building.

 

First one of the two blocks is known as classrooms’ block and holds eight lecture halls in total, all named after our Faculty’s retired professors. Student administration office, the food court where students can spend their free time and rooms assigned to student clubs are also in this block.

 

The institutes’ block where the rooms of academic staff and the research and practice centers of the faculty are located is just in front of the classrooms block. 

 

 

Between the two blocks is a garden with a pool where a long time of the university years will be spent at.
