Istanbul University Faculty of Law is aware that a sound law education and raising a good lawyer does not only depend on high quality technical legal knowledge and considers the social activities realized by its students as a gain for them and the faculty. That’s because, a good lawyer needs to have reached certain awareness in all the social sciences other than law. A lawyer should be interested in social sciences from psychology to sociology, anthropology to economics. In order for a lawyer to attain competence in the science of law, he needs to have knowledge in the other areas of social sciences, a sound rationalization, mathematical perception and finally a world view that he questions with his philosophy. Departing from this fact, Istanbul University, Faculty of Law considers the opening and activities of student clubs in various areas as obligatory in the education of students and assurance of an ideal university ambience.
The student clubs established within our faculty apply to our Dean’s office with a consulting academician that they define and start their activities. Currently, part of our clubs in operation leads their activities in certain areas as can be seen below while the other part leads their social activities in wider areas. In recent years our clubs have already signed under many successful conferences, panels, talks, signature days, meeting days, sight seeings, competitions, trainings, sports activities, magazines, activities like yearbooks and ball organization and we believe our new students will provide precious contributions to our faculty with their enthusiasm and strength. The clubs currently operating in our faculty are as follows;
1. International Law Club (ILSA)
2. Social Sciences Club
3. Moot Court Club
4. Dance Club
5. European Law Studies and Research Club
6. Career Club
All our students can operate as members to these clubs while they can add new colours to our faculty’s social life with the new clubs they will establish with their friends.
